View RecordsNew York State Police incident records and New York criminal-history records are different systems with different access rules.
For New York State Police arrest records, use the State Police FOIL process when you are seeking an identifiable State Police incident or agency record. For your own official New York criminal-history record, use the DCJS personal record-review process. DCJS does not provide another person’s official rap sheet as a public name search.

FOIL production and criminal-history record review have different scopes.
NYSP responds within five business days with the record, a denial, or an acknowledgement and estimated availability; this is not a guaranteed production deadline. Fees must be paid before release. The current schedule lists $15 per incident/investigation report, 25 cents per additional page up to 9 by 14 inches, and $15 extra for certification; other record/media or preparation charges may apply. Use the agency’s fee notice for the actual request total.
